David Beckham has plans to open his own pie and mash shop
David Beckham apparently wants to open a chain of pie and mash restaurants with chef pal Gordon Ramsay.
The ex-footballer is said to be plotting a worldwide pie and mash takeover with foul-mouthed Gordon, according to The Sun.
The pair registered the name PM (Pie and Mash) Restaurant under their joint initials, DBGR, with the Intellectual Property Office in 2010.
It's believed David's inspiration for rolling out the chain has come from a mistaken impression that he owns a share in Gordon's new restaurant Union Street Cafe, due to open on September 16, which took 2,500 bookings in the first four hours and has no Friday or Saturday tables free until November due to the perceived celeb link.
A friend of David's told The Sun: "Instead of getting involved in Gordon's new restaurant, David wants to open a pie and mash caff in London as a starting point for a worldwide chain.
"David was just looking around Gordon's new restaurant and it's been misinterpreted that he was investing in the place. There was an option for David to invest early on but he wanted to stick to opening somewhere that would sell his own favourite grub.
"David and Gordon agree there's a gap in the market and they want to bring it to the rest of the world."
Pie and mash fan David has been snapped at his favourite East End haunts over the years and recently had meals from a pie and mash shop delivered to the set of an advert he was shooting.
Last year David said: "We've got something in the pipeline. We are obviously good friends and we are excited about a project that could happen very soon. It will be a business thing but owning a restaurant is going to be fun as well."
